1.0 ATA is everyday air. Soft chambers typically run between 1.3 and 1.5. Every hard shell in our range reaches 2.0, and adjusts down from there.
That is the real difference between the two ranges. Within the hard shells the choice is form — lying alone, seated for two, or the ring pod — because the pressure is the same.
The physics
Normally oxygen rides on red blood cells, and they run nearly full. Under pressure, oxygen also dissolves directly into the blood plasma.
It is the same physics that keeps the fizz in a soft drink while the cap is on. More pressure, more gas held in the liquid.
A session
Step in and the chamber pressurises over about ten minutes — your ears pop, like a plane. Then an hour or so of rest: read, breathe, do nothing, with a soft mask on. Ten minutes back down and you are done.
